The drake decoys have the lighter, late season paint scheme and are perfect filler decoys for your larger spreads. The drakes also have very bright and shiney heads that contrast nicely with the lighter backs. The hens are far darker than depicted in the photo and are not painted with the same detail as the GHG field shell decoys. I bought these, along with a dozen GHG shells, a dozen Higdon full body flocked action and a dozen Higdon full body flocked feeders. The GHG shells are poor (except for the hens) next to the Higdons and have a flimsy, fiberglass stake that will be impractical for frozen ground. By far the best looking decoys are the Higdon, fully flocked feeders. Higdon's steel base and adjustable steel ground stake (Which have a little red, refector tape to help find them in the dark)are probably the best thing on the market, but a little heavy. These stakes also come with small cotter keys to keep the decoy from falling off in high winds (or to keep your decoys assembled to the stake while moving which can be a real time saver) which I anticipate losing or not using at all with gloved hands.
