When we set out to build the best waders available, we knew that durability was a top priority. That's why we used our rugged HD2™ fabric to reinforce the seat, thighs, knees, and shins of our waders. The HD2™ fabric is added to high-wear areas to prevent much of the wear and tear that comes with hardcore waterfowl hunting. Sitting on rough seats in blinds, leaning against trees or logs, bumping into underwater stumps and logs, and kneeling on hard ground are all basic things that waterfowlers do ever day, but your waders shouldn't have to pay the price. Our HD2™ fabric protects all of these critical areas of the waders and makes sure that they can stand up to the demands of your hunt.
As we've been field-testing these waders for the past couple of years, the Reinforced Knee Pads have proven to be a life saver. Simple things like kneeling down in a boat to pick up decoys can be a killer on your knees, but you won't give it a second thought with our waders. The internal knee pads are constructed of closed-cell foam and faced with our HD2 material for maximum protection and durability. These knee pads protect against underwater logs and stumps, or anything else that gets in your way while hunting.
This revolutionary feature is designed to eliminate ankle-fit boots that fit poorly and don't perform in most hunting situations. The adjustable Boot-Lok system allows you to get exactly the right fit based on your body type and the layers worn underneath your waders. Once the Boot-Loks are locked into place, you'll have no trouble trudging through the worst mud and snow. The Boot-Lok system also makes it easy to put on and take off our waders. Rugged HD2 boot guards extend down over the ankles of the boots to keep mud and debris from collecting around the Boot-Loks. No more "one size fits all" ankle fit boots - find your customized fit with our Boot-Lok system.

  1. Drake boat pants

Nice alternative to chest waders during hotter weather! Just need a better belt system to aide in keeping them on.

  3. Good stuff!

When I first received them, my first thought was, "wow, these are heavy"! And they are heavy...; however, that "heaviness" kinda goes away as soon as you put them on. They are very comfortable (even though I should have bought the stout version). I haven't used them in the water yet, but if they are anything like the rest of the Drake products.....I am not worried!
Good price for a good product. Its a no-brainer!!!

  4. Perfect for cold weather, shallow water

I got these waders close to the end of the season, but I was able to give them a workout.

I hunted in thigh deep water in them on a 20 degree morning, where we had to break ice to get the birds to come in. I was comfortable and warm the whole two hours we were out there, and the waders stood up to both ice and sharp edged cane.

The next morning it was a little warmer although still below freezing. We started in mid-thigh water, then moved to a shallow marsh. The waders were easy to walk in, warm and comfortable. My feet were never cold, and nothing leaked.

For me, the advantage of waist high waders is ease of walking and less weight. These work out well on both counts.

Only con: the belt is useless. It's made for an NFL lineman. I'm 5'9" and 175 pounds. I can't get the belt tight enough to hold up the pants. I'll use suspenders next season.

    Overall, great purchase. Very happy.

  5. Versatile neoprene waders for shallow water

In Texas there are times when I need the warmth of neoprene but don't need full chest waders. I got to use my new Drake Neoprene Boat Pants during the last weekend of the season, and I was happy with them.

On the first hunt, a day in the low 20s, we hunted in thigh deep water for about 2 1/2 hours. There was thin ice on the water as we waded in but the Drake Boat Pants have a tough exterior and I wasn't worried. My feet and legs were warm all morning (I was wearing a union suit and thin fleece pants as underlayers).

On the second morning we actually hunted four different locations, including another thigh deep reservoir with sticky mud, a mid-calf pond with lots of submerged logs and sticks, and a knee-deep bayou. The temperatures were in the high 30s to low 40s. I was warm throughout, had no trouble getting in and out of the Polaris, and had no problems walking in the waders. They don't have the weight and awkwardness of neoprene chest waders, which is a big plus.

The belt isn't all that useful. I'm a pretty slim guy, and getting the belt tight enough to actually hold up the boat pants would require almost doubling the belt around me. I'm going to use suspenders next season, which is no issue for me.

All in all, these are a good solution to a typical Texas duck hunting problem, when it's too cold for breathable waders, but not so cold that full neoprene chest waders are called for.
